Sastamala Gregoriana celebrates its 30th anniversary from July 15–19, 2026, with a top-level international program set in historical surroundings!The festival theme is “Tears and Joy – Affections in Music”, offering impressive concert experiences in medieval churches, candlelight concerts, musical encounters around the town, and performances by the leading international names in early music.The festival’s main concerts take place in the Church of St. Mary in Sastamala, renowned for its unique acoustics. The main concert program features leading performers of European early music:
- At the opening concert, the European Union Baroque Orchestra (EUBO) and Alfredo Bernardini guide the audience through the great emotions of the Baroque era in “In the Flow of Emotions – A Journey Across Europe.”
- The Spanish ensemble Cantoría delights and celebrates with its energetic and playful Renaissance songs in “El jubilate.”
- Danish bass-baritone Jakob Bloch Jespersen and the Finnish Baroque Orchestra (FiBO) dive into the worlds of love and war in “Alla Guerra d’Amor.”
- The Vicentino Singers perform Orlando di Lasso’s powerful masterpiece “The Tears of St. Peter.”
- The festival concludes with the German ensemble lautten compagney BERLIN, combining the music of John Dowland with Shakespeare’s sonnets in a melancholic concert program.
